“It’s not just a bookstore, coffee shop, and meeting place, it’s a way of life”
So your looking for the perfect cup of coffee done “your way”. A great book to take on vacation or to read on your spare time. How about some great conversation…or not…..How about a comfy sofa, and an ever changing scene of the unique smells, sounds, and scenes of downtown New Britain. Combine any or all of these, and you have the best secret in Connecticut! Leaves and Pages!
“I have been coming here for the past eight years from across the river, just for the great books and the company of Dan and Arlene” says Deborah Picard of South Windsor. “Never mind the coffee and treats!” That is what most people feel after they have spent a few minutes in this now New Britain landmark on West Main Street, just steps from City Hall.
“Arlene and Dan at the front counter of Leaves and Pages”
Arlene, author of three books about New Britain’s past is always ready to answer any question about the city. An expert about New Britain, Arlene was the local history curator at the New Britain Public Library for 22 years, serving the city also as it’s historian. Dan also worked in the Reference Department of the library and boasts a great knowledge of just about anything, including how to make many different types of gourmet coffee’s right in front of your eyes. Owning one of the largest collections of cutlery that I have ever seen, Dan can fetch, filet, and fill a bagel faster than you can blink an eye.
“The front of Leaves and Pages, just several doors up West Main Street from City Hall”
The store, located in the former coffee shop of the Hotel Burritt has a collection of New Britain memorabilia and other eclectic objects, besides copies of Arlene’s three books she has authored on New Britain by the Arcadia Publishing Company. Signing of any of her books will only cost you a smile.
“Leaves and Pages sitting room for that quiet place to collect your thoughts, to have a business meeting, or a small place to have a private kids party.”
“Hundreds of used books and scores of subjects will have you spending a lot longer time looking in Leaves and Pages. So, you might was well enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea while your doing it!”
CtCameraeye has been coming to this location for many a year, and fully encourages everyone to come in and check out what special items you can find there. From books, to cards, From teapots to interesting talk, Leaves and Pages has it all!
